Tully Rotary Micro Forest Project
When: 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, April 26, 2026
Where: Tully Town Walking Path, 5833 Meeting House Rd, Tully, NY 13159
Description: Tully Rotary has set a date, Sunday, April 26 for planting of a new microforest in the Town Park. A microforest is a new concept in the US but is gaining popularity as its benefits are becoming more well known. Microforests create all of the biodiversity of large native forests in small patches of property. They are islands of trees and shrubs that provide feed and habitat for insects, birds and small animals. The Tully microforest will be one of the first planted in New York State and follows others around the US and the world. Local microforests are teaching tools for children and community members about the values of forest biodiversity while providing wonderful variety to walking trails.
Interested groups include NYS DEC, SUNY Forestry, Tully Scouts, and many families around the area. Groups and individuals will plant native tree and shrub seedlings as well as help prepare the site along the town walking path on Meeting House Road from 9AM until 3PM on Sunday, April 26. Visitors are welcome to witness the planting or participate by signing up at the link below on a first-come-first-served basis.
