Outreach & Engagement

Garden Buddies

We are creating a grant program to encourage individuals and organizations to start a native plant garden. But this is more than a garden, it is a relationship. We are lucky to be a local chapter and to have the ability to get to know and learn together and with our neighbors. What many people and organizations need is a buddy to accompany their “dive” into a native plant garden. This is a person who has some experience making a garden, learning how gardens are created from lawns, how native plant gardens change over time, and how the plants do or do not become comfortable in their garden. Few of us are experts, but many of us have experience and enthusiasm and lessons to share. Just as in tabling, some of us can be mentors and enjoy sharing our experiences with newbies. Would you like to help somebody make this “dive” into a native plant garden? If so, click the “Volunteer” button below! We’d love to chat and see how you could help our group grow.

Grant Reviewer

Help us make fair and thoughtful grant decisions!

Main tasks:

  • Read applications and evaluate them against agreed-upon criteria
  • Provide feedback on strengths and weaknesses
  • Participate in group discussions to help select recipients
  • Keep evaluations confidential and impartial

This role is great for someone who enjoys thoughtful reading, fair decision-making, and contributing to the success of individuals starting native plant gardens. If this sounds like a good fit — or even a maybe — click the “Volunteer” button below. We’d love to chat and see how you could help our group blossom.

Planning & Coordination

Membership Survey Coordinator

Help us keep a pulse on our community!

Main Tasks:

  • Maintain and update the annual member survey as needed
  • Distribute the survey to members once a year
  • Tabulate responses and share results with the planning committee

This role is great for someone who enjoys organizing info, spotting patterns, and helping us improve how we serve our members. No fancy tech skills needed — just a bit of time and a collaborative spirit. If this sounds like a good fit — or even a maybe — click the “Volunteer” button below. We’d love to chat and see how you could help our group thrive.
